Woman, 60, fatally shot in Coral Springs home was respiratory therapist

Police have identified the woman who was shot to death in Coral Springs early Tuesday.

Marilyn Clarke-Bevins, 60, was found with gunshot wounds at her home in the 4700 block of Northwest 87th Lane around 4 a.m. after police received a call about a possible shooting in the area.

Clarke-Bevins, who was a respiratory therapist, was taken to Broward Health North, where she died.

By Wednesday afternoon, detectives interviewed family members, some of whom were out of town at the time of the shooting, said Coral Springs Police Capt. Brad McKeone.

Police haven’t named any suspects, but McKeone said there is no current threat to the community.

“We are considering this an isolated incident,” he said. “We don’t feel this is an issue of public safety.”
