Coral Springs police arrested Colleen Nichols, 28, after police said she crashed her vehicle while under the influence at about 11:55 p.m. Monday. Nichols then told police that her 3-year-old daughter was home alone, according to the report.
A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy went to the woman’s West Boca home and knocked on the door, but didn’t get an answer. It wasn’t until Nichols husband arrived that the deputy got inside, according to the report.
There, the deputy found the girl sleeping on a bed.
The husband said he was coming home from work and didn’t know why the deputy was at his home. After being told about the incident, he said he was surprised, according to the report.
Nichols faces DUI and child neglect charges. She was booked into Palm Beach County Jail and is being held on $3,000 bail.
