Voters elected Christine Hunschofsky to the City Commission’s District 2 seat in a special election Tuesday.
Hunschofsky fills the term of Jared Moskowitz, who resigned to successfully run for state representative.
Hunschofsky, who ran against Nancy Schwamb Robeson, campaigned to monitor development in the Wedge, an area the city is still annexing piecemeal and will add hundreds of new homes, and to upgrade Loxahatchee Road. Both candidates were political newcomers.
With seven precincts reporting, Hunschofsky received 786 votes, while Schwamb Robeson received 143.
“I’m really looking forward to preserving and protecting the interests of all Parkland residents,” Hunschofsky said Tuesday night.
Stacy Kagan was elected automatically to District 1 because she didn’t have an opponent.
A commissioner’s annual salary is $2,400 and the car allowance is $593 a month.
