Coral Springs has imposed a moratorium on puppy and kitten mills for 180 days.
City officials unanimously approved the moratorium. City staff return before the moratorium is lifted with recommendations on a law that prohibits the opening of such businesses in the city. Many other cities in south Florida already have laws in place.
“Now that the federal court has made this law enforceable, I would like the city to move forward on the ban,” Commissioner Joy Carter said.
“We will look at all the cities and bring back what we think is the best one,” City Attorney John Hearn said.
