South Florida Aquatic Club wins record sixth straight Junior Olympics short course title

South Florida Aquatic Club recently finished first overall in the Florida Gold Coast 14 and Under Short Course Junior Olympics competition, giving it an unprecedented sixth consecutive JO short course team title. SOFLO totaled 990.50 points as it edged runner-up Pine Crest (884.83) at the Michael Lohberg Pool of Champions in Coral Springs.

More than 800 swimmers and 48 teams competed over three days in this Junior Olympics event.

SOFLO received some strong individual performances from Alejandro Mateus, who tallied the most points in the Boys 10-Under Division. Teammates Nicolas Rossi and Sebastian Lares placed second and fourth respectively in the Boys 11-12 Division.

Pine Crest’s Elvis Kotikovski was the high-point winner in the Boys 13-14 Division, while teammate Matthew Petreski tied for second place. Joshua Hanks and Tiago Pereira also sparkled for Pine Crest as they finished third and fifth respectively in the Boys 11-12 Division, while Alexandra Meszaros was third in the Girls 13-14 Division and Josefine Richter was fifth in the Girls 11-12 Division.
