Public can sample chili at annual Parkland contest

Make an amazing chili concoction you’d like to show off — or do you just like to eat?

Parkland is hosting the city’s annual “Chili Cook-Off” at 6 p.m. Saturday at Pine Trails Park, 10555 Trails End. The best chili is judged on flavor, texture, aroma and appearance and first, second and third place winners get trophies. There is no fee to enter.

And, there is no fee for the public to taste the entries.

The deadline to apply to enter the contest is Thursday at cityofparkland.org.

After the chili contest and sampling is complete, there will be a free country music concert in the park.
