A man who was reported missing in West Palm Beach was arrested in Coral Springs after throwing a TV into a pool and setting a couch cushion on fire, police said.
Clint Justin Albury, 24, was arrested Monday after a man caught him on his property staring at a couch cushion burning in the pool, a police report said.
The property owner told police that the night before, someone had broken into his home and tossed his television into the pool.
When police spoke to Albury, he said he had left his home in West Palm Beach five days earlier and had been wandering the streets, the report said.
Albury told police he had been sleeping near the bushes along the side of the Coral Springs home for the past two nights and admitted throwing the TV into the pool Sunday and setting the couch cushion on fire with lighter fluid and throwing it into the pool Monday, the report said.
He told police “he had no logical explanation” why he threw the TV in the pool and “had no idea why he lit the cushion on fire,” the report said.
Once in custody, police found that Albury had been reported as a missing person in West Palm Beach. Police alerted the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office as well as Albury’s father that he had been found.
Albury is facing several charges, including burglary of an occupied structure, criminal mischief and first-degree arson. He is being held at the North Broward Bureau jail in Pompano Beach.
