Bike-riding thieves steal pickup from Parkland house

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are searching for two bicycle-riding thieves who stole a $50,000 pickup from a house in Parkland.

The victim told detectives he had parked his white 2013 Ford F-150 pickup in the driveway of his house just after midnight June 11, according to detectives. He then left with the truck’s doors unlocked and the keys still inside.

About an hour later, two men on bicycles entered the property in the 6700 block of Northwest 66th Way through an unlocked gate, according to detectives. The thieves then climbed into the truck and stayed inside for about a minute before riding away on their bicycles.

Surveillance video captured the same men around 2:20 a.m. placing their bicycles in the bed of the pickup and driving away, according to detectives.

The pickup was recovered the next day in Homestead, according to detectives. The thieves also stole the victim’s wallet from the pickup and used his credit card to make a purchase at a gas station in Miami-Dade County.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the theft to call Detective Tony Hierrezuelo at 954-753-5050 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-8477.
